Orbit is a community-driven mentorship program designed to provide greater opportunities for learning and collaboration at Tech Valley Game Space to a variety of game related interests and skill levels!


Each Orbit group meets on a recurring basis (either weekly, fortnightly or monthly) at Tech Valley Game Space and provides opportunities for participants to share information, discuss projects, ask questions and obtain guidance from experienced mentors.

Beginner Game Design


Co-Organizers: Frederika Edgington-Giordano & Jamey Stevenson

Description: The perfect group for a beginner game developer! Create 2D games and learn the basics of Game Design without needing to learn programming using free game engines like Construct 3 and Ren’Py.

Note: Equipment is extremely limited, bringing your own laptop is strongly suggested.

3D Game Design

Description: Ever wanted to make a 3D game cheaply on a low-to-medium end computer? Or a 2D game that utilizes the tools more commonly used in 3D engines, such as rigging? Our TVGS Intermediate Game Design Orbit mentorship group can help provide you answers and resources to any questions you may have on this popular and free software.

Game Art/TVGS Art Orbit

Description: The TGVS Art Orbit (TAO) group is a collection of artists with a wide range of skillsets who will be presenting semi-regular sessions on game art creation and generally making themselves available to assist people in creating video game art.

Digital Storytelling

Description: Do you like to write? Do you like story based games? If you are new to game development you can learn how to create interactive stories using Ren’py, Twine, or other game engines! We will also discuss other aspects of writing and game design. Note: No equipment required, but a laptop may be helpful for most meetings.

Virtual Reality

Diversity in Games

Description: This is a flexible group designed as a community to discuss topics in diversity, whether they be about game players, or current and aspiring game developers. Meeting topics will flow according to whatever the participants are interested in! Note: This is a remote group that meets online, so register ahead of time to get the link, or come to TVGS for the in-person meeting.

We are also looking for additional mentors for each of the existing groups, so please sign up using this form if you would like to get involved as a mentor.
